Ways we can help during the Ukraine war

Give money:

Donations over the Easter services were incredibly generous, and the Chaplaincy sent an amazing €6000 to help Ukraine via Medicins sans Frontiers and ShelterBox.

You can continue to give via the Chap-Aid fundraising page with HelloAsso or directly via one of the charities that are supporting Ukraine e.g. as above, Christian Aid, Feed the Hungry and many others.

Offer accommodation to those who have fled from Ukraine:

Your mairie or prefecture may have information locally about how to help.

There is a government website through which you can offer accommodation (click here).

Give goods: Give time: Give services

Charity associations supporting Ukraine such as the Red Cross, are in need of good quality clothes and goods to sell, and for people to work in their shops and storerooms as volunteers (bénévoles). (click here for locations of shops)

Being able to speak French and English is a great help to the associations who are responsible for bringing Ukrainians in and placing them as most Ukrainians whilst speaking no French, may speak a little English.

Pray without ceasing…

A Prayer for Ukraine from Archbishops Justin Welby and Stephen Cottrell:

God of peace and justice,
we pray for the people of Ukraine today.
We pray for peace and the laying down of weapons.
We pray for all those who fear for tomorrow,
that your Spirit of comfort would draw near to them.
We pray for those with power over war or peace,
for wisdom, discernment and compassion
to guide their decisions.
Above all, we pray for all your precious children, at risk and in fear,
that you would hold and protect them.
We pray in the name of Jesus, the Prince of Peace.
Amen.
